Notice of Opportunity - Middle School Spanish Teacher

Middle School Spanish Teacher needed in Greenville, SC: Permanent, full-time position. Standard benefits are provided: Teach middle-school students Spanish Language/Literature subjects. Prepare course objectives and study outlines according to the curriculum guideline and requirements. Integrate cultural studies throughout the curriculum in support of developing students’ perspective on the historical and social background of the language. Teach students the Spanish vocabulary, diction, grammar, and semantics. Incorporate classroom learning activities. Develop a well-rounded curriculum that enables students’ abilities in reading, writing, listening, and speaking both formally and conversationally. Establish and enforce education rules to maintain instructional order. Provide conversational classes for practicing pronunciation and important expressions. Teach basic composition classes. Conduct research on up-to-date teaching materials and methods. Organize fun events to showcase the students’ Spanish language skills. Assign students course- and home- work, administer tests, and grade the performances. Schedule and prepare students for oral and written examinations. Assess students’ progress and analyze the data to drive instructional decisions. Develop lesson plans based on the needs of individual students. Provide suggestions for further learning and intervention sessions with students with additional help. Maintain accurate and complete student records and prepare reports on students’ progress. Attend all regularly scheduled team planning and evaluation meetings and staff development sessions.

#Minimum requirements: a) Bachelor’s degree in a liberal arts, business, or science field; (b) Eligibility to obtain the state teaching license, shown by having a bachelor’s degree plus special knowledge in the teaching area; and (c) Have special knowledge in the teaching area, shown by (i) possessing a bachelor’s degree in the teaching specialty, or (ii) having at least 1 year full-time post-baccalaureate coursework in the teaching specialty, or (iii) possessing any US state teaching license with an endorsement for the teaching specialty, or (iv) 3 years work experience teaching the particular subject, or (v) possessing a similar professional standard in demonstrating expertise in the teaching specialty
