Weather Delays

Due to unsafe early travel conditions, Greenville County Schools can implement a delay to ensure students and staff arrive safely at their schools to receive in-person instruction. Delays are typically 2 hours, but can sometimes be 3 hours or another amount of time depending on many factors including temperatures and road conditions, considerations for travel during the day and limiting student and staff travel at night, bringing students back into the schools after eLearning and other factors.

Transportation

  • Buses will not run on specific icy roads that are impassable, and for students whose routes are impacted, families will be notified directly by the Transportation Department.
  • Special needs transportation will only be provided for students who attend full-day programming.
  • No state or district buses will be available for field trips.
  • Principals will make the final decision about trips involving charter transportation.

FAQs

When will the bus arrive? What time does the building open? What time does class start?

All operations are delayed by the amount of time announced. For example, a two hour delay means buses run two hours later than usual, the building opens two hours later than usual and classes start two hours later than usual. Simply add the announced delay time to your typical school day routine.
