Progress Monitoring

Progress monitoring is when teachers assess students’ educational performance on a regular basis (weekly or monthly) for two purposes: to determine whether children are progressing appropriately from their instructional program and to build more effective programs for children who are not progressing adequately from instruction. The purpose and importance of progress monitoring is:

All service providers must maintain records of progress monitoring data in all goal areas. This data will be used to complete progress reports at the end of each reporting period.

Service providers may choose to maintain each individual student’s progress monitoring data in an electronic format or in “hard copy” format. No matter how service providers choose to store and maintain evidence towards IEP goals and objectives, this data must be easily accessible for any conferences with parents or teachers, IEP meetings, reevaluation planning meetings, or upon the request of your Special Education Specialist.
