Children receiving BabyNet intervention services are referred to transition from Part C (Infant and Toddler) prior to age 3, to Part B (school-age). If the child is found eligible for Part B, an IEP must be developed and implemented by their third birthday.
Greenville County Schools works closely with Part C BabyNet Providers in order to identify children who may be eligible for Part B services. For children receiving Part C intervention services residing in Greenville County that may need an initial evaluation to determine eligibility for Part B special education services, the Part C Infant and Toddler Program makes a referral to Greenville County Schools. This referral is to be made at least 90 days prior to the child’s third birthday.
A transition conference occurs during a screening appointment in collaboration with Greenville County Schools' staff. The screenings for BabyNet children may include (as necessary to determine the unique needs of the child): Review of documentation provided by BabyNet Providers, including information from Vision, Speech, Hearing, Developmental or Ability, Social and Emotional Skills, Daily Living Skills, and Motor Skills screenings.
The screening process may lead to a more comprehensive assessment for the child if the child is suspected of having a potential disability. The screenings and subsequent evaluation (if warranted) are provided at no cost to families.
