GCS Player of the Week - February 25
We have a special edition of the Greenville County Schools Player of the Week to honor our Middle School Basketball County Champions!
Woodmont Middle Wildcats Girls Basketball. The Lady Wildcats capped a perfect 15-0 season by defeating Northwood Middle 44-28 in the County Championship game! The Lady Wildcats ran through the regular season as back to back Region 3 champions and in a hard fought battle of unbeaten, the Lady Wildcats advanced to the championship game by defeating Blue Ridge Middle (12-0) 26-25 in the semi-final. Ja’Rae Smith paced the Lady Wildcats with 14 points in the championship victory.
Hillcrest Middle Wildcats Boys Basketball. Hillcrest Middle finished its regular season with an 11-1 record, winning Region 3. In the county tournament the #2 seed Wildcats defeated Hughes Academy and Greer Middle on their way to a showdown with #1 seed Beck Academy. Sully Reames scored 21 and Justin Amadi added 19 as the Wildcats knocked off the #1 seed 59-50 to claim the County Championship.

Riley Leavitt, Mauldin Soccer – Scored hat trick, 3 goals vs CCES in a scrimmage
Vcitor Tello/Stephen Garber, Riverside Wrestling – Qualified for state wrestling tournament
Brooke Jordan-Brown, Riverside Basketball – All Region basketball
Jalen Thomas, Southside Basketball – Recognized by coach for improvement during second half of the season.
Zykeria Gambrell, Southside Basketball – Freshman athlete competed in volleyball, basketball and now is starting softball
Luke Wetzel, Wade Hampton Wrestling – Runner-Up at Upper State wrestling at 145
Sierra Foster, Wade Hampton Basketball – 10 pts, 8 rebs and 3 steals in playoff game vs Westwood
Shemar DeGannes, Woodmont Wrestling – Upper State champion at 220 lbs
Xan Rowland, Woodmont Basketball – Recognized for leadership by coach
