The Greenville County Schools Board of Trustees approved 126 new Sirrine Scholarships totaling $252,000 at Tuesday’s board meeting.  Every GCS high school, as well as three charter high schools, was represented with at least one $2,000 scholarship award.

The J. E. Sirrine Scholarship Program was established in 1973 through the generosity of the late Joseph Emory Sirrine. The income was designated to be used to assist deserving graduates of Greenville County high schools to further their education.   Since 1973, the Board of Trustees has made awards to more than 6,500 graduates, totaling more than $30 million.
