J. Whittenberg Elementary School of Engineering, was one of only 24 US teachers awarded a grant to participate in the Fulbright Institute for International Education Japan American Teacher Exchange Program for Education for Sustainable Development (ESD).

The program involves two parts: a joint conference with Japanese educators in San Francisco, and a two-week study tour of Japan. While in Japan, the program participants will study Japanese culture, visit Japanese schools and educational centers with a sustainability focus, participate in a home-stay visit with a Japanese family, and participate in a second joint conference with Japanese teachers for workshops and sustainability curriculum design.

Upon returning to the United States, Ms. LeBlanc and other teachers will participate in joint projects with Japanese teachers and work to integrate ESD curriculum in their home schools.  Visit http://www.iie.org/en/Programs/ESD to learn more.
