The mission of the Greenville County Schools’ Dropout Prevention Specialist (DPS) is to work collaboratively with administrators, school counselors, social workers, and families to develop better pathways to educational attainment for recent dropouts and students at-risk of dropping out. The DPS provides service for students aged 16 and up by facilitating a reentry into the educational system or a transition into alternative educational programs within the school district and community. By serving as a district liaison for students and their families, the DPS works to identify and remove any educational barriers at home or in the schools and provides on-going support to ensure student success.
