Introduction

The Greenville County Schools Special Education Local Procedures Manual contains guidance for all service providers related to local Special Education processes and procedures. The information in this manual is derived from varied sources including the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) of 2004, the Special Education Process Guide for South Carolina (Revised March, 2013) published by the South Carolina Department of Education, Office of Exceptional Children, and District policy.

The format of the manual is designed to provide quick reference and easy access to local processes, procedures, and forms tied to these procedures. In addition, users can access additional information and resources on many topics by simply clicking on the links in the resources section within each topic.

This manual is not intended to be published in a print version, as users may lose many of the accessibility features available only through an electronic format.

Throughout the year, users will receive timely notification of any updates to the manual via an e-mail alert system.
