Students and staff at Tigerville Elementary School are celebrating one of public education’s most prestigious honors — being named a South Carolina Blue Ribbon School for 2025.

Principal Amy Kern, Superintendent Dr. W. Burke Royster, and Assistant Superintendent for School Leadership Nerissa Lewis joined State Superintendent of Education Ellen Weaver in Columbia for the official announcement recognizing this year’s honorees.

The Blue Ribbon Schools program honors public schools that demonstrate exceptional academic performance and significant progress in closing achievement gaps. Schools are selected based on a combination of student achievement data, innovative instructional practices, and strong school culture.

“I am extremely proud of the students, staff, leadership, and community at Tigerville Elementary School,” said Superintendent Dr. W. Burke Royster. “This honor speaks highly of their dedication to fostering outstanding student achievement, connecting with the community, and welcoming strong parental involvement, all of which create a successful learning environment worthy of the esteemed Blue Ribbon recognition.”

Principal Amy Kern expressed similar pride in her school community. “We are deeply honored to receive recognition as a Blue Ribbon School in the category of Exemplary High Performing Schools. This distinction reflects the unwavering dedication of our teachers and staff, the hard work and perseverance of our students, and the invaluable partnerships we share with our parents and families.  At Tigerville Elementary, we believe that success is achieved through collaboration and shared commitment.  This honor is a testament to the strength and excellence of our entire school community.”

Tigerville Elementary previously earned National Blue Ribbon School status in 2018 and continues to be recognized for excellence in student learning, collaboration, and community engagement.

Greenville County Schools has a long history of success with the Blue Ribbon program.
