Registration Dates for Change in Assignment, Magnet, Virtual, 4K, 5K and 1st Grade
The Greenville County Schools application window for school choice options opens Monday, November 10.
The deadlines for each program vary. Please check each program for specific application windows.
Program Registration Information
Change in Assignment (CIA) – Open November 10 through November 25, 2025
Parents/guardians can submit a choice request form for up to three schools. Choice request forms are available at every school (except magnet schools) and must be completed and submitted at the number one choice school. This form is not available online. Order of receipt of the CIA form at schools during the CIA Lottery Window does not affect selection.
Magnet Academies – Opens November 10, 2025
Magnet applications are available online via GCS Parent Backpack. Paper-based applications are available by request. Parents are encouraged to apply in the first application round as available space in magnet academies will fill up quickly.
Virtual Program – Open December 14, 2025 through February 8, 2026
To register for the full-time Virtual Program, students must be enrolled in Greenville County Schools and parents must have a BackPack account. If your student is currently attending the Virtual Program for the current school year (25-26) and you would like them to participate in the Virtual Program for the 26-27 school year, you must apply again. Your student will not automatically be enrolled in the Virtual Program for the 26-27 school year. To learn how to apply, view Parent Backpack Application Instructions.
**The Virtual Program will not be offered for Specialized/Magnet Programs such as Charles Townes Center, Language Immersion, and preschool programs or the most intensive special education services, which is typically referred to as self-contained programming.**
4K, 5K, and 1st Grade Registration
4K registration applications will be accepted December 1, 2025 - January 30, 2026. The Early Bird dates for 5K and 1st grade registration are December 1 - 5, 2025. If you have questions, please reach out to the GCS Infoline at InfoLine@greenville.k12.sc.us or call 864-355-3100.
