State-selected Instructional Material Available for Public Review Through February 3
The public is invited to virtually review math textbooks and instructional materials that have been proposed for use in South Carolina’s public schools. The materials are also currently on display at seven locations through February 3 with instructions for submitting comments available at each site:
- Bob Jones University Library
- Coker University Library
- Columbia College Library
- Columbia International University Library
- Converse University Library
- Horry Georgetown Technical College Library
- Winthrop University Library
In conjunction with publishers, the South Carolina Department of Education (SCDE) conducts an instructional materials caravan that will give schools and district staff the opportunity to review new materials during presentations by participating publishers.
Once the caravans are complete, Greenville County Schools teachers vote on the books and resources the state has provided. The district’s Academics department reviews and selects materials from the pre-approved list of resources from the State Department of Education.
If you have questions about the state’s process for selection instructional materials, please contact the Office of Instructional Materials at 803-832-8210.
