Southside High students to present at American Chemical Society conference
Three seniors from Southside High School have been selected to present their research papers at the upcoming Southeast Regional Meeting of the American Chemical Society in San Juan, Puerto Rico. Shayar Joshi (left), Sam Albury (center) and Rishita Tikkala (right) will present their projects alongside graduate students, undergraduate students, and industry professionals at the annual meeting October 19-22. The theme of this year’s meeting is “Chemistry Transcending Boundaries for a Sustainable Future.” The students’ research grew out of the work they did in Southside’s IB Science courses. All three are full diploma IB students.
Shayar Joshi is currently doing an internship with Terravive, a sustainable packaging company. Joshi works with their research and design team. He has also been a volunteer at Roper Mountain Center.
Sam Albury completed an internship through Environmental Engineering and Earth Sciences at Clemson this summer and is still working with Clemson professors to further the research.

She also completed the Bank of America Internship Program this summer where she worked with United Ministries on a number of community projects. This will be the second time Tikkala has presented at this conference.
