Greenville County Schools Superintendent Dr. Burke Royster today surprised ten GCS teachers with the announcement that they have been named finalists for 2021-22 GCS Teacher of the Year!

The finalists are, in alphabetical order:

  • Lisa Aucoin, Media Specialist, Summit Drive Elementary
  • Jessie Bolton, Science, Berea High
  • Porter Grant, Special Education, Mauldin Middle
  • Anna Hasenkamp, 7th Grade LA/Social Studies, Greenville Middle Academy
  • Chappell Hughes, Instructional Coach, Mitchell Road Elementary
  • Kendall Johnson, English, Wade Hampton High
  • Beth Mardre, 4K, Golden Strip Child Development Center
  • Sarah Poole, 5th Grade, Taylors Elementary
  • Christian Scott, Band, Hillcrest Middle
  • Anne Kelly Tromsness, Theatre, The Fine Arts Center

The process of selecting the ten finalists began last fall when schools and centers selected their individual Teacher of the Year. Applications were reviewed by a Screening Committee and a Selection Committee. The 2021-22 GCS Teacher of the Year will be announced on August 12. Congratulations to these outstanding teachers!
