A familiar name in Upstate news circles is joining the Greenville County Schools Communications Department. Tim Waller will begin his duties as Greenville County Schools’ Director of Media Relations next Wednesday, March 4. Waller replaces Beth Brotherton, who left GCS to accept a position with the City of Greenville as the Director of Communications and Neighborhood Relations.
“With 25 years’ experience as a reporter and anchor for WYFF, Tim is a trusted and experienced media expert,” said Executive Director of Communications and Engagement, Teri Brinkman. “His excellent writing, public speaking, video, and storytelling skills are legend, and we are grateful to have him join the GCS team.”
During his time at WYFF Waller covered countless topics, including education and politics. He is a two-time Emmy Award winner and four-time Radio Television Digital News Association (RTNDA) South Carolina Reporter of the Year. Waller produced an award-winning documentary entitled Chronicle: The State of Education, and has been a long-time supporter and proponent of quality public education.
