In an effort to encourage better student attendance and decrease tardiness, the Attendance Services Department sponsored the Attendance Blitz Competition this year from September 3, 2019 – January 14, 2020.  To participate in the contest, schools had to submit an entry form that outlined the ways that the school would promote attendance during the contest period. Schools were encouraged to be creative in their plans to stimulate good attendance at their schools, especially during Attendance Awareness Month, which occurs in September.

Forty-four schools participated in the competition this year. The winners were selected from the participating schools by comparing the 90th day average daily attendance percentages from the 18-19 school year and the 19-20 school year. The elementary, middle and high schools that had the highest increase in their 90th day attendance percentage were determined to be the winners.

This year’s winners were Cherrydale Elementary (0.61% increase), Berea Middle (0.53% increase), and Southside High (1.03% increase). Congratulations to the winners and thanks to all of the other participating schools.
