School Hosts Dinner to Fight Hunger
Duncan Chapel Elementary School will host its 17th annual “Empty Bowls Soup Night” on Monday, January 30th from 5:30-7:00 p.m. The event is a fundraiser for organizations who feed the hungry and homeless.
Fourth grade students create and paint ceramic bowls. Student made bowls will be sold for $5 and soup tickets are $2. Specially-made artist bowls will be available for sale that night for $10.
Art Teacher Brian Morgan is spearheading the event. “We do it to raise money and awareness for hunger in the community. That is why we are doing this, we want people in our community to know that there are people who go hungry and there are organizations around us that feed them. It teaches students that service is important and that art can be more than just something pretty that hangs on the wall, we can do something for a cause and help our community.”
