GCS Player of the Week - November 17, 2016

Our GCS “Players of the Week feature the three Greenville County football players selected to participate in the 2016 Touchstone Energy Cooperatives Bowl North vs South All-Star game, which will be held in Myrtle Beach on December 10th.

Amari Houston, Hillcrest Football – Amari made the Varsity team as a 9th grader for the Rams and was part of the 2014 State Championship team. As a defensive lineman, Amari excels in run support and getting pressure on opposing quarterbacks. Amari will be joined at the North/South game by his head coach, Greg Porter, who was selected as one of the assistants for the 2016 North team.

Alex Syphertt, Greer Football – Alex, a WR for the Yellow Jackets, was asked to step up as a senior and be a leader for the Greer offense following the graduation of many starters in 2015-16.  With a first year starting QB, Alex accepted the challenge and has helped lead the Yellow Jackets back to the playoffs this season.

Patrick Wofford, Mauldin Football – As a junior Patrick earned the rare trifecta of All-Region Football, All-Region Weightlifting and All-County Band! In his senior season, he anchored the Mavericks defense leading Mauldin to a 7-3 overall record and a playoff berth.
