Superintendent’s Statement on Recent School Events

Despite the unfortunate and unusual events of the last week, I want to assure students, parents, and employees of the safety of our schools.  In our 101 schools and centers, thousands of positive relationships are built each day among our students, employees, parents, and volunteers.

We take extreme and numerous precautions, based on expert advice and research, to keep our students safe and ensure a positive and fulfilling educational experience.  These precautions include secure capture areas at school entrances, background checks for employees, clearance protocols for visitors and volunteers, School Resource Officers and Zoned Patrol Officers, professional training to defuse unsafe situations, and in-house psychologists and guidance and mental health counselors to help identify and resolve areas of concern.
