GCS Player of the Week - May 5
As the 2015-16 starts to wrap up, we’d like to recognize our middle school team champions in soccer as GCS Players of the Week!
Greenville Middle Academy Rams Boys Soccer – After completing the regular season with one loss, the Rams were able to avenge that loss in the first round of the GCS middle school soccer tournament. In the championship match, Greenville faced off against Tanglewood Middle. The teams had played twice during the regular season and both contests ended in a tie. After falling behind 0-1, the Rams were able to tie the score and send the match into overtime. Again, these two evenly matched teams couldn’t settle things in overtime and the match went to penalty kicks for the title! Greenville Middle Academy prevailed 5-4 in PK’s and became the 2016 Greenville County Middle School Boys Soccer Champions!
Riverside Middle Royals Girls Soccer – The Lady Royals were a dominant team in 2016, completing the regular season unbeaten. Along the way they set a record for goals scored and goals allowed, yielding only 4 goals against for the entire season! In the championship match, Riverside met Beck Academy and Beck took a 1-0 led into the half. Riverside rallied in the second half, scoring two goals and shutting out Beck to become the 2016 Greenville County Middle School Girls Soccer Champions!
