Sixteen of South Carolina's finest high school concert bands, including three from Greenville County Schools, gathered at Irmo High School for the inaugural State Concert Band Festival.

The Woodmont High School Symphonic Band (Donna Cotter, director), the Riverside High School Concert Band, and the Riverside High School Wind Ensemble (Quintus Wrighten, director) were invited to perform at the event because they achieved the highest rating of Superior with Distinction at the regional level.

The South Carolina Band Directors Association engaged a national panel of clinicians and adjudicators to give the conductors and students performance feedback and work with the bands in a clinic situation. It was strictly an opportunity for the bands to perform for an audience in a wonderful facility.
