GCS Player of the Week - April 28
“GCS Player of the Week” takes us the 2016 Middle School Softball and Baseball Championships!
Woodmont Middle Wildcats Softball – The Lady Wildcats got a clutch hit from Madison Wimpey in the 6th inning driving in two runs and propelling the team to a 5-4 victory over Northwest Middle in the GCS Middle School Softball Championship. The title was Woodmont’s second in a row.
Riverside Middle Royals Baseball – Steady pitching, timely hitting and solid defense was the foundation for the Royals baseball team which went undefeated and claimed the 2016 GCS Middle School Baseball Championship with a 9-3 victory over Mauldin middle.
Congratulations to Woodmont Middle and Riverside Middle!

- Kennedy Dennis, Berea Track & Field – County champion in the 100 with meet record 11.85
- Sam Blumer, Eastside Track & Field – School record pole vault 13-7.00 at County Meet
- Kelkcee Fulton, Greenville Softball – Hit .495 with 51 stolen bases in leading Red Raiders to AAAA playoffs
- Troy Pride, Jr., Greer Track & Field – Broke county meet records in 100, 200 and 400 meter sprints
- Olman Gonzalez, Greer Soccer – Scored 3 goals total in region wins over Blue Ridge and Emerald to secure Jackets playoff spot
- Drake Byrd, JL Mann Soccer – 3 goals and 1 assist in two wins last week
- Kelsey Heyward, JL Mann Track & Field – Meet MVP at County Meet with records in the 100 and 400 hurdles
- Will Barnett, Travelers Rest Track & Field – School record 9:51 in 3200 m at County Meet
- Morgan Williams, Travelers Rest Softball – 2-4 with game winning hit versus Berea
- John Ward, Wade Hampton Track & Field – Broke 41 year old record in 800 m at County Meet
- Marley White, Wade Hampton Track & Field – School record in 3200, finished 2nd in 400 hurdles with PR and had PR in 100 meter hurdles
- Colt Griffith, Woodmont Track & Field – County Meet champion in 1600 m
- Lindie Clark, Woodmont Soccer – Scored game winning goal vs Hillcrest to secure playoff spot
