The Riverside High School Cross Country Team has been recognized by Greer Community Ministries for outstanding community service.

Last month the food pantry posted a photo of its empty shelves. Riverside Cross Country Coach Eric Cummings immediately contacted the food bank and informed them had 3000 food items in his office for donation.

The next day Coach Cummings arranged to have parents make the delivery. Parents delivered nearly 7000 items.

“Not only are they winning races, they are winning the race of life as they learn to give back to those less fortunate in their own community,” said Krista Gibson of Greer Community Ministries.

Gibson said the pantry helps 362 people each month in the Greater Greer area. They operate through donations alone.
