GCS Students Continue to Outperform State on ELA and Math Assessments
GCS students in grades 3 through 8 scored higher that the state average on the SC READY (South Carolina College- and Career-Ready Assessments).
SC READY tests in English/Language Arts (ELA) and mathematics. Four performance levels are awarded: Exceeds Expectations, Meets Expectations, Approaches Expectations, and Does Not Meet Expectations. Results will be used for state and federal accountability purposes.
The percentage of GCS students scoring Meets Expectations and Exceeds Expectations was higher than the percentage of SC students scoring Meets Expectations and Exceeds Expectations in both subject areas and at all grade levels.
English Language Arts
- 3rd grade had the highest percentage of students scoring Meets and Exceeds Expectations at 51.0%.
- 7th grade had the lowest percentage of students scoring Meets and Exceeds Expectations at 40.4%.
Mathematics
- 3rd grade had the highest percentage of students scoring Meets and Exceeds Expectations at 60.0%.
- 7th grade had the lowest percentage of students scoring Meets and Exceeds Expectations at 35.9%.
