Plain Elementary and Simpsonville Elementary at Morton Place have been named 2017 Schools of Excellence by the National PTA.

The National PTA School of Excellence program is a recognition program that supports and celebrates partnerships between PTAs and schools to enrich the educational experience and overall well-being for all students. By enrolling in this program, your PTA and school administrators are making a year-long commitment to identify and implement an action plan for school improvement based on PTA's National Standards for Family-School Partnerships.

Debbie Mihalic, principal of Plain Elementary School, said, “Our PTA has earned the National School of Excellence Award for its family-friendly environment and for empowering our parents to be supportive in the education of their children.  PTA is the backbone of the school. Not only do they have money in their budget to fund technology, but they’re here to work with our children one-on-one, to help teachers in the classroom, and to be a positive voice for Plain Elementary.”

Simpsonville Elementary at Morton Place principal Jackie Earle said, “Our PTA is a wonderful group of volunteers who have worked very hard to make a loving and caring environment for other parents, our teachers, and our community. They work throughout the building, before it opens for students in the morning and staying late to make copies for teachers.”

At a National PTA School of Excellence, families feel welcomed and empowered to support student success, and PTA is a key partner for continuous school improvement.
