Two GCS Students Participate in Disney Dreamers AcademyQuintavias Watts, a freshman from Hillcrest High School and Sydney Johnson, a senior from Carolina High School and Academy recently participated in Disney Dreamers Academy with Steve Harvey and Essence Magazine, a once-in-a-lifetime innovative outside-the-classroom education and mentoring program.

Quintavias and Sydney were among 100 teens who, along with their parents, received an all-expense-paid trip to the Walt Disney World Resort in March.  Disney Dreamers Academy allows students to participate in hands-on, full-immersion workshops related to a career paths ranging from animation to zoology. Each participant learns important skills such as communication techniques and networking strategies.

The setting for this exciting opportunity was Walt Disney World’s theme parks. Both on stage and behind the scenes, the parks became vibrant ‘classrooms’ leading to career discoveries, the pursuit of dreams and fun memories.

Motivational speakers and celebrities shared their stories and provide insight on how to achieve success and “DREAM BIG.” Dreamers had the opportunity to cultivate relationships with other students from across the nation while they gained first-hand knowledge from Disney experts and world-renowned entrepreneurs and executives.

Walt Disney World Resort along with Steve Harvey, syndicated radio and television personality, and Essence Magazine hosted the Dreamers during the four-day power packed career and educational exploration.
