Greenville County Schools recently hosted the Middle School Juried Art Show, an annual event to showcase the artistic talents of middle school students.  This year's show was judged by Paul Flint and Diane Kilgore, both professional artists in the Greenville community.
Best in Show was awarded to Maggie Pelton, a 7th grade student at League Academy.  Joanna McCauley is her art teacher. The winning entries are on exhibit at the GCS Central Office, 301 E. Camperdown Way, through Tuesday, May 7.

Juror's Statement

With so much great art to choose from, we looked for work that  went a bit beyond the assignment – for artists who thought out their concept well, but were still interested in the possibility of surprise – jump in, then adjusted the piece as they worked through the process.  We looked for the joy of working, and the desire to make problem solving choices.  This show testifies to what happens when talented, hardworking, teachers run headlong into crazy, creative students.
