Woodmont High Future Farmers of America students Ashley Strickland, Amanda Strickland, Dakota Wood, and Rebekah Welborn, recently competed in the National FFA Equine Evaluation Contest, where they earned second place with the Silver Emblem Award. Ashley, Amanda, and Rebekah also received the Silver Emblem as individual competitors. Dakota Wood received the Gold Emblem – a first place award - as an individual competitor. The Horse Evaluation Contest requires students to evaluate and rank horses based on breed characteristics, conformation, and performance. As a team, they cooperatively solve problems related to equine selection, management, nutrition and production. The Woodmont High FFA Team is taught by Matt Rollins.
