Names for Two Schools Approved by the Board
The names for a new middle school and high school were recently approved by the Board of Trustees.
The new middle school, scheduled to open in 2014 in the CUICAR - Millennium Campus, will be named in honor of retiring district superintendent Dr. Phinnize J. Fisher. The new middle school will have a projects-based curriculum that will encompass the sciences, technology, engineering, the arts, and mathematics. The school will relieve overcrowding at Beck, Bryson, Hillcrest, Mauldin, and Riverside Middle Schools.
The new high school, scheduled to open in 2017 on Quillen Avenue in Fountain Inn, will be named Fountain Inn High School. The school will relieve overcrowding at Hillcrest, Mauldin, and Woodmont High Schools.
Names for both schools were recommended by ad hoc committees of the Board after receiving input from the community.
