Anne Pressley, Area 24
Dr. Pressley is a 27-year veteran of public education in the State of South Carolina. Prior to her retirement, she served as a Director at the South Carolina Department of Education, where she led the development of state standards, curricular resources, and professional learning opportunities to support schools and districts across South Carolina. Prior to working at the SCDE, she held positions as Director of Academic Support Services in Greenville County School District, Director of Teaching and Learning in Beaufort County School District, Assistant Principal at Berea High School, and Instructional Coach at Eastside High School. Her first nine years were spent as a high school ELA teacher at J.L. Mann, Mauldin, and Eastside during which she received National Board Certification in Adolescence and Young Adulthood/English Language Arts.
Prior to her election to the School Board, Dr. Pressley served as a member of the Hughes Academy SIC. She is the current President of the Clemson Department of General Engineering Advisory Board and a member of the South Carolina Governors School for Arts and Humanities Board of Directors. Dr. Pressley has formerly served on the South Carolina Governors School for Science and Mathematics Board of Directors, the Transform South Carolina Project-Based Learning Leadership Team, the Junior Achievement of Upstate South Carolina Board of Directors, the Teacher Advancement Program (TAP) State Advisory Board, and the Technical College of the Low Country Advisory Board. She also served as an Instructor in the Program of Alternative Certification for Educators (PACE).
Dr. Pressley holds a Bachelor of Arts in English from Clemson University, a Master of Education from Converse College, an Educational Specialist Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Converse College, an Educational Specialist Degree in Educational Administration from the University of South Carolina, and a Ph.D. in Educational Administration from the University of South Carolina. She currently lives in Greenville with her wife Marsha who is Magnet Coordinator at Hughes Academy, their daughter Anna, and their two dogs Max and Dot.
