How Can I Get Involved?
Parent Teacher Association (PTA)
The District has 82 local PTA or PTSA units in all elementary, middle, and high schools and two special centers. Parents are encouraged to be active members of their child’s PTA. For more information, contact your local school or visit the websites below:
School Improvement Council (SIC)
A broad-based community advisory group comprised of parents, teachers, and community members has been established in every school to work with the principal to cultivate a positive school environment supporting student success. As an advisory body, the SIC provides input, feedback, and recommendations to support the school. The membership composition is set forth in state statute. For more information, contact your local school or visit the South Carolina SIC website.
Volunteering
Parents and community members are valued education partners. Over 685,000 hours are given annually to Greenville County Schools by more than 19,000 volunteers. Areas of need vary by location. Typical opportunities include tutoring, mentoring, speaking to student or staff groups, office clerical help, and beautification of buildings and grounds. To get involved, contact your local school.
