13 GCS school bands earn Outstanding Performance Award
Thirteen middle and high school bands in Greenville County have earned the top award from the South Carolina Band Directors Association. Blue Ridge Middle School, Hillcrest Middle School, League Academy, Mauldin Middle School
Riverside Middle School, Rudolph Gordon Middle School, Sterling School, Blue Ridge High School, Greenville High School, Greer High School, Mauldin High School, Riverside High School and Travelers Rest High School, all received the Outstanding Performance Award for the 2022-2023 school year. That’s the highest number of top awards ever for the district, surpassing the 11 schools that earned it last year.
The Outstanding Performance Award is the highest achievement for band programs in South Carolina. To earn this award, students must have demonstrated a high level of proficiency in all areas of their program. Points were earned through their success in Marching Band Championships, Region and All-State Band Concert Performance Assessment, and Solo and Ensemble.
