SCSBA Board Recognition Month Honors Roger Meek for 25 Years on the GCS Board of Trustees
Roger Meek, a member of the Greenville County Schools Board of Trustees representing Area 26, was recognized by the South Carolina School Boards Association for 25 years of school board service at tonight’s school board meeting.
Meek is presently serving his seventh four-year term on the Greenville County Board of Trustees. He has served in many roles while on the School Board, including Chairman of the Board of Trustees on five different occasions. He has also served as a member of many committees, and represented the school board on the Board of Greenville Technical College, Communities in Schools, and the South Carolina School Boards Association.
Veteran school board members provide vision and valuable leadership for school districts. In January 2019, about 48 percent of South Carolina School Board Members had served four years or less and about 32 percent had 10 years or more of board service. Meek is one of five school board members from across the state to earn recognition this month for 25 years of service.
