Nearly 86 percent of Greenville County Schools juniors earned credentialing on the 2018 WIN (Worldwide Interactive Network) Ready 2 Work (R2W) Career Ready Assessment. The WIN Ready 2 Work assessment replaced the ACT WorkKeys test, which has been administered for the previous two years. The percentage of GCS students (85.7%) that earned a R2W credential was higher than the percentage of students across the state (83.4%) earning the credential.

Six GCS schools performed above the district and state averages on WIN R2W. They are Riverside (95.4%), Mauldin (91.1%), Wade Hampton (90.9%), JL Mann (90.6%), Eastside (89.0%), and Travelers Rest (88.1%).

“We expect all graduates to one day enter the workforce,” said Director of Accountability and Quality Assurance Dr. Jason McCreary. “WIN Ready to Work shows us that our students are developing the skills and understanding necessary to gain employment.  The credentials students earn are directly portable to the job market.  A quality education and a skilled workforce cultivate opportunities for personal success, higher-wage jobs, and economic growth – a benefit to us all.”

A WIN R2W Credential can assist students with finding part-time or summer jobs, internships, and employment. In South Carolina, over 1,400 employers recognize the credential.

The WIN R2W test measures essential workforce skills and contains four parts: Applied Mathematics, Reading for Information, Locating Information, and Essential Soft Skills. Students passing the WIN R2W assessment earn a Bronze, Silver, Gold or Platinum certificate. The Essential Soft Skills assessment examines a student’s skills in five areas: cooperation with others; resolving conflicts and negotiation; solving problems and making decisions; observing critically; and taking responsibility for learning.
