On the day “Rainbow Chicken Creole” was served on all school lunch menus in Greenville County, the Euphoria Food Festival launched its 2016 contest to find the next student created item.  The creole was the winner of last year’s First Annual Euphoria Healthy Lunchtime Throwdown.  The chef who invented it, Sarah Walker, a fourth grader at A.J. Whittenberg Elementary was there for the announcement.

The biggest change this year is the addition of a second category.  There will be separate contests for children ages 8-12 and for students ages 13 to 16.

Entrants must be a student in Greenville County Schools, the recipes must meet USDA guidelines and be budget friendly.

You can register at http://euphoriagreenville.com/kidsrecipe/

Four finalists will be invited to the Euphoria food festival in September to cook on stage with master chefs from around the country.  The winning recipe will be on lunch menus and featured in Cooking Light magazine.
