Tree Encourages Year Round Giving
At Ralph Chandler Middle School the Giving Tree is implemented at least four times a year. At the beginning of the school year ornaments are placed on the tree for various school supplies, at Christmas it has ornaments for presents, in March the ornaments are for food items for Easter and in May the ornaments are for items needed for summer.
December 7 through December 11 Ralph Chandler will raise money during Quarters for Christmas. “Quarters for Christmas” is the creation of Noah Cecil who is currently attending Clemson University. Noah was in the first class of eighth graders to attend Ralph Chandler. During “Quarters for Christmas” week students raise money using a photo booth, an ugly sweater contest and paying to pie a teacher in the face. Since Ralph Chandler began in 2008 the school has raised over $15,000 for families and community members in need during the holiday season.
