Sloane Perkins started writing books at age nine. Now as a high school senior, she is a published author. Sloane’s first book, Timmy the Mouse: Princess in Peril is now available on Amazon and Barnes and Noble.

Sloane first developed the idea of Timmy the Mouse for a short, animated film she entered in the PTA Reflections contest.

“Timmy is the smallest mouse in his world,” Sloane said. “He wants to become a knight, but the other mice don’t think he is big enough or strong enough and they always make fun of him for his dream, but he doesn’t give up and eventually he ends up saving the princess and becoming a knight, just what he wants to be.”

Sloane’s original rough drawings of Timmy went through several evolutions before a professional illustrator completed the job.

“It was a lot of fun to see how it developed from a very poorly drawn movie to something this amazing,” she said.

Sloane says she plans to continue to use her creative talent in college, studying film.
