Parents of rising seventh, eighth and ninth grade students have been notified that their child must have the Tdap vaccination or they must submit an objector’s statement to their child’s school for their child to attend school prior to the first day of school, Tuesday, August 18. Students not meeting the Tdap vaccination requirement will not be allowed to attend school on the first day.

Students new to Greenville County from other South Carolina counties or other states are granted a 30-day exemption from the date of the student’s enrollment.

The Tdap vaccine protects against diphtheria, tetanus, and pertussis (whooping cough). State Law began the requirement for the Tdap vaccination in the 2013-14 school year. The Tdap vaccination is given by health providers, many pharmacies, and the Greenville County Health Department. For additional information, please contact the Health Department at 282-4100.
