School counselors are an integral part of the entire school community. National School Counselors Week, celebrated February 2-6, highlights the tremendous impact school counselors have in helping students achieve school success and plan for a career.

School counselors work alongside teachers, parents and administrators to help students develop skills they need to become responsible adults. They help students plan, monitor and manage their own learning, consult with teachers, parents and administrators to meet each student’s needs, provide support to the school’s educational program, and manage activities that enhance the total guidance program.

Wade Hampton High School Senior Counselor Nicole Broka said, “We have an amazing opportunity to make a difference in the lives of our students. The support we provide for our students academically, socially, and emotionally allows us to make an impact on their future. It is a gift and a privilege to watch students grow and find their paths to happiness and success after high school.”
