School Board Members Recognized for Service in January
“School Boards Stand Up 4 SC Public Schools”
Greenville County Schools and the South Carolina School Boards Association are celebrating School Board Recognition Month in January. Greenville’s 12 School Board members, along with more than 600 locally elected and appointed school board members throughout the state for their service and dedication to public education.
The theme of this year’s celebration, ““School Boards Stand Up 4 SC Public Schools,” recognizes the unique roles school boards play in promoting and advocating for quality education. They are elected by the people in their local communities to represent their voice and vision for their public schools.
Greenville County Schools’ Board of Trustees members hold leadership positions both within and outside the district. They develop policies and make tough decisions on complex educational and social issues impacting the entire community. The School Board oversees the governance of a school district that serves more than 72,000 students and employs more than 10,000.
