NASA Recognizes Tim Van Heule with Digital Beagle Award
NASA’s Digital Learning Network™ has awarded Tim Van Heule, GCS Coordinator of Distance Learning, the Digital Beagle Award. This is the second year that NASA Education Specialists have given the award to recognize an outstanding educator who has helped integrate the curriculum and ideals of NASA’s Digital Learning Network into classrooms.
NASA's Digital Learning Network provides free, interactive video- and web-conferencing events for educators interested in enhancing their classes by connecting directly with NASA education specialists and subject matter experts. Lessons are taught to GCS students in grades K-12 through video conferencing or virtual field trips that feature NASA-related science, technology, engineering, and mathematics instruction.
Mr. Van Heule is responsible for providing teachers with NASA opportunities that reinforce the curriculum. Topics range from “All About Ratios: Math You Use Every Day” to “The History of Modern Rocketry.” Instructional objectives, vocabulary, and pre- and post-conference activities are outlined for each session.
Mr. Van Heule has served as Coordinator of the Distance Learning since 2008.
