Greenville High Students Earn 3rd Place in JA Titan Business Challenge
Greenville Sr. High Academy students last week earned third place in the Junior Achievement Titan Business Challenge. They were among high school students from across the Upstate competing for scholarship money and bragging rights. The students acted as business partners in a one-day strategy tournament using an online, real-world, interactive business simulation, and the top three teams walked away with money for college or additional training after they graduate from high school.
Prior to the competition, students received a seven-lesson program in their classrooms taught by corporate volunteers that introduced them to critical economics and management decisions. The JA Titan Challenge placed each student in the CEO seat in small teams. They reacted to changing economic landscapes and made key decisions about pricing, production, research and development, capital investment and marketing while operating their own virtual business. Each team was challenged to outperform the competition in profit, sales and market share.
