Sterling School social studies teacher Marty Bohnenberger is one of 36 teachers nationally to serve a Behring Teacher Ambassador for National History Day. She was selected for showing outstanding creativity, commitment, and inspiration in developing students' interest in history.

"NHD is an extraordinary program for research and presentation of historical topics by students, and is an international contest in which students can showcase their hard work," said Bohnenberger.

Each regional winner will be awarded a $1,000 stipend for their participation and service as an ambassador. Middle and high school teachers are nominated by their administrators, peers, or self for the award. Behring Teacher Ambassadors will work with students and teachers to help them better understand the theme, "Leadership and Legacy in History," and to expand NHD program in their region.
