Welcome Elementary Benefits from Belk’s 125 Days of Service
Welcome Elementary School recently received an exciting makeover courtesy of local Belk employees. As part of its project, 125 Days of Service, the store enlisted staff volunteers to do makeovers in local schools over a 125 day period. Welcome Elementary was chosen based on its 96% poverty rate.
The makeover included constructing and staining a picnic table, creating educational wall hangings, assembling bookshelves, landscape-mulch, and grass cutting, sorting supplies, and stuffing student bags. The store also held a bake sale and auction, hosted by associates who personally baked items and contributed to the auction, which raised over $1,200 for the school. Thank you, Belk employees!
