Governor Nikki Haley Visits Hillcrest MiddleHillcrest Middle School students and staff welcomed Governor Nikki Haley during a visit to talk to students about bullying. Superintendent Dr. Phinnize J. Fisher and Board Chairman Roger Meek were also in attendance. Governor Haley visited the school to recognize  two former Hillcrest Middle School students, Angel McGowan and Matthew Linn (now at J. L. Mann High Academy), who wrote and illustrated a book called Stomp Out the Bullying. Hillcrest Middle School seventh graders have embraced the story, as well as the accompanying song and video, which has sparked a renewed interest in students to learn more about the issue and how to intervene.  Governor Haley told the students she was bullied as a child, and the most important thing they could do to stop bullying is to tell someone. “If you tell someone, we can do something about it. You will never forget those who took the time to care about you,” she said.
