Energy Management Department - ENERGY STAR
The ENERGY STAR label is awarded when a building has documented superior energy performance with measureable results on the energy is consumes.
The goal of the Energy Management Department is to have ALL of our 100+ facilities earn the Environmental Protection Agency’s ENERGY STAR rating. In 2012, thirteen of our facilities were recognized with the Energy Star label. In 2013, we as a district added 29 facilities to our number of ENERGY STAR buildings for a total of 41. In 2014, we have further advanced towards our 100% goal, adding 3 more facilities to our total. While schools in other districts in South Carolina have begun achieving the ENERGY STAR label, Greenville County Schools is still leads the way with 44 facilities that have earned the Energy Star Label, 50% of the total number of Energy Star rated schools in the state.
