Seven Hillcrest High students took state honors at the South Carolina Speech and Debate Tournament held at Riverside High last weekend. They are:

• Miranda Lee - 1st Place in Original Oratory
• Xavier Conquest - 2nd Place in Dramatic Interpretation
• Hunter Harrell - 3rd Place in Dramatic Interpretation
• Jake Bray - 4th Place in Dramatic Interpretation
• Dorian Heriot - 5th Place in Dramatic Interpretation
• Dorian Heriot and Xavier Conquest - 2nd Place in Duo Interpretation
• Mayden Blackston and Gina Ritchie - 5th Place in Duo Interpretation
• Mayden Blackston - 5th Place in Program Oral Interpretation

In addition, the following students will compete at the national competition in Fort Lauderdale in June.

• Xavier Conquest in Duo Interpretation
• Dorian Heriot in Duo Interpretation
• Miranda Lee in Original Oratory
• Hunter Harrell in Dramatic Interpretation
• Jake Bray - 1st Alternate for Dramatic Interpretation
