Superintendent Receives Friend of Gifted Education AwardGCS Superintendent W. Burke Royster is the recipient of the Friend of Gifted Education award for his continued support of gifted education programs. Dr. Royster authorized the district’s Trial Placement program, which has enabled many students to realize their academic potential. Additionally, allowing for expansion of gifted classes and teacher training has helped promote the importance of educating students at all levels. His efforts in this area are an example to education leaders across our state.

“I am proud to accept this honor on behalf of the school district and our outstanding gifted and talented educators,” said Superintendent Royster. “I am also very appreciative of the leadership and dedicated service provided by Ms. Jane Snyder, district program coordinator.”

The South Carolina Consortium for Gifted Education (SCCGE) honors people who have made contributions to Gifted Education. This year, awards were based on the conference theme, “Profile of the GT Graduate-Impacting Talent Development.”
