Additional Principal Changes for 2014-15
Three middle schools and two elementary schools will have new principals beginning in July.
Mary Leslie Anderson has been named principal of League Middle Academy. She will replace retiring principal Merry Cox. Ms. Anderson currently serves as assistant principal at Tanglewood Middle School, and has prior experience as an instructional coach, teacher, and magnet program coordinator. She earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of South Carolina. She also earned a master’s degree in education from Clemson University.
Nerissa Lewis has been named principal of Bethel Elementary School. She replaces Brenda Byrd, who will assume responsibilities as Assistant Superintendent for School Leadership, Elementary Level Group 1. Ms. Lewis currently serves as principal of Mitchell Road Elementary School, and has previous experience as assistant principal, administrative assistant, and teacher. She earned a bachelor’s degree from Winthrop University and a master’s degree in education from Furman University.
Katherine (Kate) Malone has been named principal of Riverside Middle School, replacing Eric Williams who will assume principalship of Wade Hampton High. Ms. Malone is currently serving as assistant principal/acting principal of Greer Middle School. She previously served as administrative assistant, curriculum coach, and teacher. Ms. Malone earned bachelor’s and master’s degree from Furman University, and a master’s degree in education from Converse College.
Jennifer Meisten will assume the principalship of Beck Middle Academy, replacing Jason Warren who will become principal of Greenville Sr. High Academy. Ms. Meisten currently serves as assistant principal at Sterling School, and has previous experience as an assistant principal and teacher. She earned a bachelor’s degree from William Paterson University and a master’s degree in education from Furman University.
Dr. James D. (Jamie) Spinks, Jr. has been named principal of Mauldin Elementary School. Dr. Spinks is currently serving as principal of Central Elementary (Pickens County). He previously served as assistant principal and teacher in Clarkesville, Georgia schools. Dr. Spinks earned a bachelor’s degree from North Georgia College, master’s degree in education from State University of West Georgia, and a Ph.D. from Georgia State University. Dr. Spinks will replace Michael Parker, who will become an assistant principal at Dr. Phinnize J. Fisher Middle School.
Additional administrative changes were announced last month:
