HVAC/R systems do much more than keep us cool in the summer and warm in the winter. Virtually every business and home has some form of heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration system. This means plenty of work for the skilled technician! Students learn electrical fundamentals from wiring a simple switch to wiring an air conditioning, heating and refrigeration system. In lab they will learn how to solder and braze copper, recover/leak test/vacuum/charge refrigeration systems, read blueprints and wiring diagrams. Students will find out how to use their senses while developing skills required for the installation, service and maintenance of HVAC/R systems.
Through a mixture of theory and hands on, the students will be able to earn multiple certifications and college credits including EPA Section 608 (Refrigerant Handling), OSHA 10 Hour Safety, R410A Refrigerant Safety, Gastite Piping, Industry Competency Exam (ICE) Employment Opportunities: HVAC/R Service Technician, HVAC/R Installer, HVAC/R Maintenance Technician, Refrigeration Technician, HVAC Sales Consultant, Facilities Engineer, Sheet Metal Mechanic, Indoor Air Quality Specialist.
